The shadowmage works in darkness, seeking to master the realms of sorcery left untouched by the academic mages. Harnessing the mind-affecting wizardry of illusionary magic and the raw energy of the light spectrum, their years of hidden research culminate in the weaving of potent spells. Their unhindered experimentation has refined the process into its most efficient form, allowing a skilled shadowmage to conjure with surprising quickness, occasionally casting twice in the same combat round.

Shadowmages are most proficient with those weapons with simple, basic functionality in combat, such as the staff. Their most effective weapon is their ability to also cast offensive spells while engaged in battle.

Though a shadowmage is free to choose any alignment, working with dark magics will slowly pull him toward evil, especially as he masters the greater and more sinister enchantments.
